Safety
A place you can feel safe
Privacy, tools for when things go wrong, how reports are handled, account security, teens and parents, and help with not overdoing it.
Privacy
Every follow is a request
On CrowOn a follow arrives as a request; you're following once the other person accepts.
Private account
Only people you approve see your posts, and they stop appearing in recommendations.
Close friends
Share posts and NOWs with just the people you pick. They aren't told when you add them.
Location
With Ghost mode on, nobody can see your location.
Showing up in search
You choose whether people can find you by searching.
Tools for when things go wrong
Block, hide, restrict
None of these notify the other person. A restricted person's comments are visible only to them, and their messages go to requests.
Hidden words
Posts and comments containing words you add are hidden.
Limit interactions
Pause comments and messages for a while.
Blur photos from strangers
Set it together with spam and scam warnings and a check before opening outside links.
Report
Report a post, comment or account from its "…". The other person isn't told who reported them.
Reports and decisions
People review
People review reports. A post reported by 3 or more different people is hidden until reviewed.
Automatic checks
Uploaded photos and videos also go through an automatic check.
Child safety
Content involving child safety is reported to the authorities as the law requires.
Reasons and appeals
Every decision comes with a reason, shown in Settings → Account status, and one appeal.
Account security
Two-factor authentication
Sign in with a 6-digit code from an authenticator app as well as your password. Backup codes included.
Passkeys
Sign in with Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. A passkey can't be stolen by other sites.
Login alerts
You're told when someone signs in from a new device. See every signed-in device and log out the ones you don't know.
Your data, protected
Personal details such as your email are stored encrypted, and passwords are stored in a form that can't be reversed. CrowOn's pages are built not to send your information to servers other than CrowOn's.
Teens and parents
13 and older
CrowOn is for people 13 and older. A device where an under-13 birthday was entered can't sign up; a mistake can be unlocked by confirming age with an ID.
Teen safety settings
Accounts of people aged 13 to 17 get safety settings automatically: notifications pause at night, and at first only people they follow can message them.
Parental supervision
The teen makes a code, the parent enters it, and the teen approves. Either side can end it anytime, and the other side is told.
Wellbeing
Daily time reminder
You're told when you reach the time you pick. See today's total too.
Break reminders
Get nudged to take a break after continuous use.
Turn suggestions off
Stop mixing suggestions into Home, and it ends after friends and people you follow.
